Real bath and more visitors

We gave Vivian her second full water bath this past weekend. She really likes the warm water, a lot better than the sponge baths that we gave her before her umbilical chord stump fell off. She had to get all clean for her visitors that stopped by on Saturday.

Beth and Holly came all the way from VA to visit for the day. They couldn't stay the night, but they were able to come and see little Vivian.

Beth and Lindsey decided to wear the same outfit, but Vivian wasn't fooled!

Holly and Beth also brought some great presents! Vivian really liked the pink and blue outfit, Sammy helped change her into it. Sammy is always there to help (or get in the way).

Vivian is getting so big already. She fits these little booties now that were way too big for her when she was born. She will probably grow out of them in the next couple weeks.

Back to work

It has been so great being able to stay at home the last two weeks with Vivian and watch her grow so much already. She is starting to smile a lot in her sleep and be more alert in the day time and look at things close to her face.

Sammy loves to see all the happenings with Vivian and anything she has touched, and Dooley has warmed up to her more giving her a sniff on the head and lying near by.

Sadly, I had to go back to work today. Luckily Mimsie is her for a week or so for the transition. I am going to miss hanging out with these two everyday as Vivian grows...now time to leave work to go see them.

Baby Cousins

Vivian had some visitors this weekend. Her Granny, aunt, uncle and cousin Liam came to see her again and stay a little longer this time. She is so tiny compared to Liam, but she is getting bigger everyday.

Aunt Lissa thought Vivian was so adorable and wanted to cry. They had a good time together.

We went on a good walk as a big family. Two strollers, an uncle, a granny, and a couple babies makes for a good time. Liam liked to be in one of our strollers with no baby car seat.

Liam was so excited to be here or was just showing off to his little cousin. He was bouncing in the Jumparoo like a mad man, and was really pumped to eat some oatmeal milk. He as banging on the tray and loved the food Davis was giving him.

Vivian's Granny loved to sit with her and relax. They look really comfortable together!

Sometimes Liam likes to chill out all by himself, or just hang with his dad and drink some milk.

Liam really liked his cousin, he wanted to grab her head, and other body parts. Vivian didn't really give him a second look :) He thought her crib was cool too. He hung out in there for a while looking at the bird mobile Lindsey made.

1 Week old

Vivian's Mimsie had to go back home on Tuesday and she was sad to leave. We were so happy she could stay and help for so long. It made things a lot easier the first couple of nights and days.

Lindsey's headache is still here but is finally getting better. She has had to lie down mostly, but has been able to enjoy little Vivian. She is such a great mommy, battling a bad headache and keeping Vivian happy feeding her as much as she can eat. We were even able to take our first walk with the stroller around the neighborhood. The weather wasn't too hot (upper 70s, humid) so it was good to get out and get some walking in.

Vivian is now one week old! This has been one of the fastest weeks in our lives. It has been challenging, tiring, fun, happy, and very fulfilling. She is doing so well eating, growing really fast. She is already over her birth weight at 6 lbs. 5.5 oz. as of yesterday. It is a really good thing that she is eating so well because she has medium high levels of bilirubin (jaundice). The more she eats the faster is goes down. It was higher Wednesday than they wanted at the doc so she had to be in a Biliblanket for 24 hrs. It didn't hurt her or make her uncomfortable, it was just a pain for us since it is attached by a chord. It did help because now her levels have dropped, and she doesn't have to wear it again. She looked like a little glow worm in it.

Sammy and Dooley are adjusting well. They finally got to meet Vivian face to face on Wednesday, and seem to like her. Dooley doesn't quite know what to think and is slightly scared of the situation. Sammy wants to watch everything she does and seems very concerned about every sound she makes. She wants to lick her all over, but I won't let that happen.

Bath time

We gave Vivian a bath after the doctor's visit. She didn't like it too much, but did like it when we washed her head.

Chad and Hannah came over last night and brought us dinner and got to meet Vivian.

We are home!

After one day in the hospital Lindsey was developing a bad headache from spinal fluid that leaked from getting the epidural. Apparently her ligament in her back is very soft like "butter" said the anesthesiologist. She got a blood patch that fixed the problem for most of the afternoon on Friday, but then the headache was back on Saturday. The only thing they could do was try again, but she didn't want to do it again. So now she has been lying down to ease the pain, taking some pain meds, and drinking a lot of caffeine to help with the headache. All of which help some, but do not completely solve the problem. Over time it will go away. Meanwhile Vivian was doing great, eating, pooping, peeing, farting, sleeping, crying, and just being so sweet. She is such a beautiful little girl.

She got discharged on Saturday and the journey home began. Little Vivian was so good riding in the car seat and it was an easy ride home. She left her sock in one of her outfits:)

Since we've been home we have been getting the hang of taking care of Vivian and she has been getting so strong and doing everything so well (eating, peeing, pooping, sleeping, not too much crying). Also we have been lucky to have some visitors. Everyone has been so helpful especially Vivian's Mimsie (BJ). She has been staying with us to help out and it has been great. Vivian's other grandma (Lisa) came to visit with her cousin Brian on Sunday. It was fun to have them here and Vivian was so happy to meet them.

Today uncle Davis and Lissa came to visit with cousin Liam. They were on their way back from Boston for the week and the timing was perfect for them to come by after flying into Raleigh. Liam is such a happy little boy and looks so big compared to Vivian. It is going to be so fun when she gets a little bigger and they can interact with each other.

She opened her eyes so she could get a good look at her Uncle.

This afternoon was also Vivan's first doctor visit. She is doing great and was such a good little girl. So happy that she is a healthy baby. She loves to lay with her mom after such a busy day.
